The Ontario leg of the 2010 SUBWAY Super Series opened Thursday night at the John Labatt Centre in London with a 4-0 decision in favour of Team OHL over Team Russia.

Team OHL spread around the scoring with 12 different players earning a point in the victory.  Goaltenders Scott Wedgewood of the Plymouth Whalers and Scott Stajcer of the Owen Sound Attack combined to make 27 saves for the shutout victory.

Looking to earn the first win for the CHL in the series, Team OHL came out flying in the first period and peppered Russian netminder Igor Bobkov with 26 shots in the first 20 minutes.  Sam Carrick of the Brampton Battalion put Team OHL on the board first at 4:02 followed by a powerplay goal by the Attack's Joey Hishon at 13:26 of the first period to stretch the lead to 2-0.

After a scoreless second period, Taylor Beck netted a goal just 44 seconds into the third with help from his Guelph Storm teammates Peter Holland and Michael Latta who picked up assists on the play.  Christian Thomas rounded out the scoring with a goal at 16:29 on the powerplay.

Kingston Frontenacs' defenceman and Florida Panthers prospect Erik Gudbranson was named Player of the Game for Team OHL with one assist and a strong defensive outing, while Bobkov earned Player of the Game honours in front of his London Knights crowd making 46 saves in the contest.

Despite the loss, Team Russia still leads the six-game series 2-1 after sweeping Team QMJHL in the first two games.  Game four of the series takes place in Sudbury, ON, Monday November 15 at 7:00 pm Eastern live on Rogers Sportsnet and on www.sportsnet.ca
